Where will the June 5-9 2013 workshop be held? Where does one register?

Hi CSW
Next year’s Clones Lace Workshop will be held in Clones, Ireland June 5-9th 2013.
We already have 5 deposits paid – 2 from the UK, 1 from Brittany France and 2 from
the States – Alaska and NYC. We have promises of 3 more from the States! This is
great news for next year as we have never had any bookings so early! You can book
a place by contacting me – maireslace@gmail.com!

I will send you a brochure and a list of accommodation next week. We are making out the new
brochure early because of the unprecedented interest this year. I think the interest is due
to a combination of reasons! – my articles in Interweave and the dvd, opening up Irish Crochet
to a wider audience and the Eastern European designers coming to Clones! I’m really chuffed
that they want to come to Clones and Ireland and recognise that the crochet they are doing in a modern
way has its roots in Ireland. Freeformers also want to learn Irish Crochet for the same reason.
The third reason is that it is a fun week, packed with related activities, such as the visit
to the Sheelin Museum of Irish Lace. It’s great to go there as part of a group and go for a meal
and strawberry meringues afterwards next door!:) We have 12 fulltime signups, with more interest
from those who come every year and who will only come for a day or two!
Ingrid, I’ll send them out with the book, when it comes! That will remind me, though I have your name
and address sitting in front of me, so I won’t forget!
I was teaching at a workshop in Cliffoney, Sligo today, where there was an Irish Crochet business and school for 100 years! Fiona Daly was giving a powerpoint demo in the afternoon. Her grandmother and great grandmother were Clones lace makers from the Clones- Roslea area, and started up a school in this area. Fiona graduated from the college of Art and Design in Dublin last year, the same college that her grandmother attended in the 1950s! Last year Fiona went to the Shetlands and showed us photos of Shetlands shawls and told us that she was there this year, learning how to weave! I was thinking about you and your interest in Shetland shawls!
