Hello Ms. Tranor. My name is Vivienne. I have signed up for your classes to be held in July in Manchester New Hampshire USA.
When I signed up I went in search of your book to start my homework…HELP!!!
Your 2002 book is out of print and copies are selling online for $198
Lacis has not yet published your 2nd edition and will only say that it will be ready for their workshop…which is after the one I am attending.
Could you please advise how I might get a copy of your book, or patterns to do the homework
Thank you…Vivienne McMullen

I also signed up for both of your classes in Manchester and cannot get a copy of the book either in order to get the homework done. The print copies on amazon are selling for a ridiculous amount of money.
what are your suggestions?
Thanks
Posted by cloneslace on June 15, 2010 at 2:55 pm
Hi Shari
Don’t worry about the homework! I will have copies of the book for sale in Manchester – at Rita Weiss’s stand. It is now available from Lacis.com. Ignore Amazon, until Lacis get on to them. I look forward to meeting you in person. If you are still really keen to do the homework, let me know and I will send you copies of the patterns, but there is no need!

Hello Maire,
What would be easier for you re: buying your book? Should I order it from Lacis or get it from you in NH at the K and C show? I”m planning to bring motifs I”ver already done to the classes.

Hi Suzanne
Great to hear from you. I intend having books on Rita Weiss’s stand, but it’s up to you. If you want to order from Lacis, that’s fine. You are obviously familiar with Irish Crochet. I expect various levels in the class, both beginners and improvers. Looking forward to meeting you all in person.

Hi, Does this book contain the pattern/instructions for the mask shown in the Summer 2011 issue of Interweave Crochet (page 24 with one page article)?
Thank you,
Dineen
Posted by cloneslace on June 5, 2011 at 11:36 pm
Hi Dineen
I haven’t seen the article yet, though it is in the post. To answer your question – the instructions for the motifs
used in the mask are in the book. I always encourage creativity, so can make a mask of your own, using the
motifs in the book:) Does that answer your question. If you live in the States, you can order the book from Lacis.com
If you live anywhere else in the World, you can order it from me:)
Maire
Posted by Dineen on June 6, 2011 at 12:22 am
Okay…thank you very much. Yes, that answers our question. My daughter is interested in the mask because she does 18th century re-enacting.
Dineen
Posted by cloneslace on June 6, 2011 at 11:05 am
another thought. Where do you or your daughter live? I will be giving workshops in Berkeley and the Steven Be Yarn Garage in Minneapolis in July and August. Last year in Minneapolis, one of the women there did her own mask in green thread. One of my daughters friends was really interested in it for a re-enactment too.
Posted by cloneslace on June 6, 2011 at 11:00 am
I just traced round a mask and then put my own motifs into it. I have one for sale:) Email me privately at maireslace@gmail.com if you’re interested.
Posted by Dineen on June 6, 2011 at 12:20 pm
We’re in Maryland. The magazine article says they’re having more articles with you about the lace and some directions, so we’ll wait for those.
Thank you, Dineen
Posted by cloneslace on June 6, 2011 at 9:20 pm
Yes thats true. I will be doing a series of 4 articles in Interweave Crochet and I will doing directions for some of the motifs in the mask.
Posted by Sarah on June 28, 2011 at 8:47 pm
My question is about the mask in Interweave Magazine. Does your book have instructions about how to make the mask itself, instead of just the motifs. I would like to know how to make the mask behind the motifs as well as the motifs themselves. Thank You. I live in the United States, by the way.
Posted by cloneslace on June 28, 2011 at 9:01 pm
Hi Sarah. Clones Lace is an Irish Crochet lace and is the original free form crochet. As such I always encourage creativity. Over the next few months, I will be giving directions for the motifs that I used in the mask. They are also in my book. I will also giving directions for the Clones knot, which is the filling stitch with which I join the motifs together. The easiest way to do the mask is to make your own template and start learning the motifs you are going to use to fill it. You don’t have to use the same motifs that I have used. I will be working towards a shawlette, over the next few issues of Interweave Crochet, though you can make a smaller piece, such as the mask, using the same motifs. I hope this answers your question.
I also have a mask for sale, if anyone wishes to purchase it from me:)

Posted by cloneslace on December 23, 2011 at 9:55 pm
Hi Rebecca
It’s great to hear that you are interested in buying 3 copies of my book on Clones Lace. However you do not say where you live. Lacis have the rights of selling books in the USA. However if you live outside the US, I can sell them to you. Please specify where you live. I have been short of books since the beginning of November, when I ordered more copies from Lacis for the Christmas rush. I finally got them yesterday, so I’m okay again. The book is going to print at the moment, so if you live in the USA, you might have to wait, unless they have a few extra:)
If you live outside the USA, you can pay me using Paypal and my gmail address.

It costs about $28 if you live within the States. I can supply it
if you live anywhere else. They have the rights for the States. I
have the rights for anywhere else. at the moment I am in Berkeley

Thanks Maire
I have sent paypal payment. I decided just to get one for now as May seems to have lost interest in this for the present. I have sent £24 and hope this is the correct amount. My address should appear on the paypal notification. Thank you very much.
Kind regards

I am so glad I found this site. I got a copy of Clones Lace 2nd ed from Lacis.
My husband gave me the book and dvd for Christmas.
I had looked on Amazon and the price was very high. When I searched around I found this site.
I hope you teach a class in Manchester NH again. I wasn’t aware that you came this far.
Merry Christmas!

Hi Jeanne
I’m glad you searched around and found a more reasonable price. I have tried unsuccessfully to lower the price of my book both in the US and in the UK, but I can’t do it. Other young people, who are better at the PC than I am, have also tried, but can’t. I just hope that anyone interested searches around, like you, and finds a more reasonable price!
Happy New Year to you. I’d love to come to Indiana this year, but we’ll see what happens! I’ll be in Lacis anyhow at the end of July and my full schedule in the States will be up on this blog soon. Where do you live?

Hi Maire,
I live in Deerfield New Hampshire…it’s about 75 miles north of Boston Mass….or about 14 miles east of Mancheter NH.
I hope to try out some of the patterns in your book soon. Right now I’m reading about some of the history behind clones lace. It’s a really interesting read!

Please send me your London address and I will try and get the book to you asap.

Hi, Maire,
Yes, I am visiting my son & his wife with their new baby. I will be here for another 2 weeks.
I will get my son to do the Paypal payment for me.
No snow here yet, but very cold with minus temperatures. Snow is expected this weekend.
I came from mid 30s temperature, so I am struggling a bit with the weather and have had to buy extra clothes.

Hi Geerte
Did you get my dvd from Interweave? I have some here too, but I can’t sell them at the sale price, as I had to buy them at the full price and pay for postage from the States! On the positive side, it will only take a few
days to get it from me to you, whereas it could 2-3 weeks to get from the States!

Here in Thailand there’s no anyone knows well in Irish Crochet.
Then I practice myself by learning from Japanese Irish crochet book.
Love to join your work shop but it quite hard for me to go to the US.
If you can make the 2nd training in Digital , so I can buy and download your work shop, it will be great.
I will buy and download the 1st work shop and hope you will have your books for downloading as well.
Pls help to make my wish come true 🙂

Hi Narumol
It’s great to hear that there is an interest in Irish Crochet again in Thailand!
Long ago, Thailand was one of the places where Irish nuns taught Irish Crochet and
it was done in Sweatshops. Its lovely that you have a love and passion for it and
don’t associate it with hard times!
Were you able to buy my dvd from http://www.crochetme.com?
I would love to do some ebooks, but time just seems to fly away on me!

Hi Maire,
just wondering if your book is still available and how much it would be to post to Tasmania Australia, we have paypal so paying isnt an issue I just need to know how much to send you. I havent tried crochet lace but my family emigrated from Co Leitrim in the late 1800’s and I have just learnt torchon lace so this would be the next step. My Great Grandmother (who married one of the immigrants) was a great filet crochet person and I have a number of her pieces and would like to give it a go. It has fewer bits to carry around than torchon lace.
Kind regards’
Debbie

Hi Maire,
It’s Maeve from New Jersey. You had mentioned in your last email to me that you would be doing workshops in the states in 2014. I was with a lady on Friday that was helping me with my carrickmacross lace project and she mentioned to me that the organiztion that she belongs to,(International Order of Lace Makers) will be having a
LACE DAY weekend the first weekend in November. Classes and demonstrations are given as well as books and tools to sell and buy. I immediatly thought of you and thought you might be interested in this event. It’s being held in Westwood NJ. It’s about
40 minutes from New York City. If you are interested I could pass the contact info onto you. Hope all is well in Ireland.
